Curtin Hamersley Comets Club Captain and Open Women’s Team Captain Sarah East played her 150th WANL game on Friday 8 July 2022.
Sarah is a tremendous leader within our club, her vast experience, expertise and wisdom is renowned in the WA Netball community.
Sarah started her netball at Northam Netball Association in the Wheatbelt where she was selected into various development programs. Relocating with her family to Perth, Sarah played a few years at Southern Districts Netball Association and soon found herself selected in various state teams, WAIS, Western Sting, and the West Coast Fever.
Sarah spent a year at the AIS in Canberra and was selected in the Australian 21U team who travelled to New Zealand to compete in a 3-game series against the New Zealand 21U team. Sarah also spent two years playing for the Hertfordshire Mavericks in the Super league Netball Competition in the UK.
Sarah is one of those rare players that has loyalty for one club playing all her WANL games with Wheatbelt Flames until they folded in 2018 – Sarah has played her last four years with Curtin Hamersley Comets. Steering our new fledgling club and imparting her court craft and netball wisdom on our young playing group.
The joy you bring to a room when you walk in Sarah is electric, you always have a smile and a kind word of encouragement for anyone that crosses your path. We love that you have the passion for our club.
From all your Comets family congratulations on a stunning netball career, we are so proud to have you as our leader, we wish you good luck on all future netball and sporting ventures.
