On Sunday 7 August at the 2022 WANL Grand Final Ann Marie Becker was presented a medal in recognition of the 200 games she has officiated by Trish Robinson from Netball WA.
Ann Marie started on the score bench in 1989 in the pilot season of what was known as State Netball League. Continuing in this role till 1996 when Ann Marie decided to switch to coaching at SNL level.
At the encouragement of Helen Robinson, Ann Marie was one of three inaugural accredited bench officials, obtaining her accreditation as Scorer in Perth and Timer in Melbourne. During this time she was lucky enough to be a bench official at SNL, Commonwealth Bank Trophy, Open and 21's Nationals and International games.
She remembers fondly, her time on the score bench and the opportunities it afforded, along the way life long friends have been formed; of which some are still officiating at WANL today.
Ann Marie feels privileged to be still involved in a sport she loves even if it is now in a coaching role. It works out 30 games a year over the 7 years from 1989-1996 calculating out to 200+ games having been officiated.
